5 Best Spots for Indoor Parties in Austin

Austin is an excellent place for events, whether you are celebrating your birthday, your child’s birthday, hosting a work event or another type of celebration it can be a bit difficult to find the right indoor location considering everyone always wants to throw outdoor events. Well ditch the old birthday dinner an drinks and opt for a night of classic arcade games, a quiet day filled with writing poetry out in the country, or a few, rounds of ping pong with a group of your closest friends. We have picked 5 of our favorite locations with the majority of them being kid-friendly. We hope you enjoy them and have a wonderful celebration.

1. The Thinkery

Located in Mueller and boasting a pretty impressive floor plan, the Thinkery is an excellent place for get-together no matter what age you are. This facility is, of course, first and foremost a museum, with constantly fluctuating exhibits and programs for the whole family, and the best part is, these events are sometimes free of entry fees (though donations to the Thinkery’s causes are always welcome). Events with the kids will go over excellently, with many bookings involving coordinated activities that include painting, artwork, and educational fun for the whole family.

2. The Writing Barn

For those among us who like something a little bit laid back for parties, the Writing Barn near Slaughter Lane is a fantastic option. The situation on a vast acreage and boasting a backyard like something out of a fairytale, the Writer’s Barn garners its name from its propensity for attracting authors and book lovers who’d like someplace to relax with their pages. The spacious rooms are laden with all the supplies you would need for a rental party and then some, and best of all, there are several lodging quarters where you and your guests can crash if a little too much wine gets poured.

3. Spin Austin

No party is complete without ping-pong, and Spin Austin has got you covered there. This party spot masquerades as a bar by day, featuring a massive interior, a fully loaded bar, and even a kitchen with a full menu. Better still, Spin can accommodate vast numbers of party-goers with ease and can adjust the bar and food as requested. The interior decorating has a pretty awesome Austin feel to it, too. It’s a great way to introduce your out of town friends to our weird and rad town.

4. Pinballz

Pinballz Arcade will take your guest back to the good old days with the help of some fantastic classic games. You and your friends can spend the day or evening testing your skills on some vintage pinball machines and old school video games. Private rooms are available for parties and come with game cards, pizza, and party-themed goodies for your guest. This location is excellent for both adults and kid parties and will keep all your guests entertained for hours.

5. Dave and Buster’s

There’s nothing like foosball, air hockey, arcade games, and ESPN over a plate of wings and some cold beers, and Dave and Buster’s has all of the above and more. Depending on the type of event you’re looking to throw, there are several party packages available for fair prices, some of which include unlimited gameplay, three-course meals based on preference, and bottomless soda and coffee for all patrons. One of the best cross-breeds for both adult and kid parties, Dave and Buster’s is a classic choice that’s sure to win.

Austin is definitely a city full of events, and whether you’re a local looking for something new or in town to celebrate your next birthday, you’re sure to have a memorable event at the above locations.
