Opening and Closing Ceremonies
This special time is when everyone gets together for tons of energy and camp spirit. Camps songs are sung, counselors perform entertaining skits, and a sense of camp unity is created. For closing ceremonies campers are recognized for great accomplishments with the legendary Prize Box.
KV Camper Award Ribbons
Every camper who attends Kidventure is taught that they are special, unique, interesting and a gift. While none of us are the best at everything, we are all the best at something, and we illustrate this through our KV Ribbons. Each camper is presented with our famous custom award ribbons by their counselor, representing a specific achievement, accomplishment, or characteristic.
The KV Camp Rally (Formerly Talent Show)
We believe it is important for kids to have a chance to show their stuff in front of their peers. That’s why we present The KV Camp Rally each Friday right after the Award Ceremonies. Parents are always encouraged to come. The show is a unique opportunity to have so much fun and build great self esteem.
Red Tickets
As part of our emphasis on teaching life skills and positive reinforcement, each counselor carries with them a handful of tickets each day. These tickets are awarded to campers at any moment during the day when that camper demonstrates a variety of attributes such as kindness, teamwork, sportsmanship, manners, and so fourth. At the end of each day, those tickets are put into a drawing for the Prize Box.
The Prize Box
What would a camp be without a treasure chest? As part of our positive reinforcement system, the Prize Box is the coveted container at each camp site that holds various trinkets and prizes for campers who have their name drawn during the closing ceremony.
The Hidden KV
Each day a plastic replica of our KV Logo is hidden somewhere on the campus. Campers are always on the lookout for the KV for they know that if their group finds it, it means they will get something special at the end of that day. Hunting for the KV allows for more engaging and organized transitions from activity to activity.
Splash Day
While our red shirts take a field trip each week, our blue shirt Discoverers (Ages 3-5) get to have their own splash day on site. Filled with sprinklers, hoses, chalk, bubbles, water guns, shaving cream, slip’n slides, and so much more, Splash Days are a time for our youngest campers to get outside, get wet, and enjoy the beautiful Texas summer while still staying cool.
A change of clothes and towel are essential for splash day!
Pick Up Numbers
At Kidventure, we send our own children to our programs. Safety is our greatest responsibility, and one of the key ways we accomplish this is with Pick Up Numbers. Each family is given a unique code. Anyone who wishes to pick up children from that family must both be on our pick up list, as well as know the pick up number.
The staff on site will not release your child to you if you do not know this number, even if you are the parent of the child. If you forget your number, you can call our main office and answer security questions to retrieve it. Please know, this policy is for your child’s safety, and to prevent anyone not authorized from even entering our campsites. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
Ollie the Koala
Our cute, cuddly mascot, Ollie can be seen around our campsites, in our merchandise, and on our website. You can even take Ollie home with one of our plush toys available in the camp store.
Blue Shirts / Red Shirts
Every camper at Kidventure is required to wear a camp shirt, every day of camp. These shirts are customized by program for safety and organizational purposes. Campers in our Discover Program (ages 3-5) are our ‘blue shirts’, and those in our Explore Program (grades 1-7) are our ‘red shirts’. You are given one free shirt per camper with registration, and you can purchase additional ones from the camp store on site.

The cost for daily lunches is $32/week and may not be broken into individual days. It provides a nutritious and great-tasting alternative to sack lunches. We’re not responsible for lost items at camp, so help us help your child keep their things together. Each campsite has a Lost & Found. All items not claimed within a reasonable amount of time will be donated to charity.
Field Trips
Our field trips are for Explorers only. Discoverers do not take field trips, and will remain at camp throughout each camp day. We use luxury tour buses equipped with air conditioning and restrooms (and sometimes TVs!) for all field trips. To view your child’s Field Trip Schedule, please visit their campsite’s page.
Expectations and Discipline
Kidventure is a fun, active and memorable experience, but first it must be safe. We take pride in creating a positive camp atmosphere where everyone feels welcome, accepted and cared for. To best facilitate this, we have created expectations that each camper must understand and meet in order to attend camp. Please read over all of these expectations with your camper and make sure they are understood.
When at Kidventure:
- I will respect other people, myself, and the facility.
- I will follow directions and rules at camp.
- I will not act violently toward any camper or staff member.
- I will not steal or destroy property belonging to Kidventure, the facility or other campers.
- I will not use lewd conduct or language.
- I will actively participate and conduct myself appropriately.
- I will do my best to have fun!
Kidventure operates with a 1:8 ratio for Discoverers (ages 3-5), a 1:10 ratio for Explorers (entering grades 1-7), and a 1:10 ratio for Leads (entering grades 6-9). Campers are expected to safely participate within these set ratios.
Discipline begins with our proactive implementation of positive reinforcement. Discipline problems diminish when kids are active, engaged and having a great time, but sometimes issues do arise. We work closely with kids to solve matters positively, and we will inform the parent and involve them in solving discipline problems. If severe discipline troubles continue, we will ask that the child not return to camp.
Discipline will be handled in the following manner:
Strike 1 – Counselor involvement with camper.
Strike 2 – Camper’s parent is notified.
Strike 3 – Camper is dismissed from camp. Parent or guardian is responsible for pick-up/transportation of camper.
Camp Awards
Each week, the KV Team will present each camper with an award. These awards are given out on Fridays for honors such as being respectful, showing great camp spirit and helping others. This is a big deal at camp, so look for any ribbons and awards your child might come home with and be sure to congratulate them!
Your Camp Team
Your camp team is comprised of the finest and most caring group of adults anywhere. Each campsite team is comprised of a director, an assistant director (at certain sites) and counselors. Many of them are teachers and college students majoring in education, and all of them have undergone extensive training and conduct themselves under our strict code of ethics. All team members meet the following requirements:
- CPR / First Aid Certification for Infant, Child, and Adult
- Must be an adult age 18 or older
- Must submit to and pass Criminal Background Check
- Must submit to and pass National Sex Offender Registry Check
- Completion of State-Approved Sexual Abuse Prevention Course
- Completion of Kidventure All-Staff Training
- Completion of Kidventure On-Site Training
- Completion of Kidventure Special Needs Training
We love to hear your comments and feedback and are focused on making the experience for you and your child a safe and memorable one.
Health and Medical Information
Medication
If your child will be taking medications of any kind* during camp hours, you must fill out a Kidventure Medical Dosage Form. This includes over-the-counter medications such as Tylenol, Benadryl and vitamins. This form must be turned in to the Camp Director with the medication in its original container on the first Monday your child attends camp. All medications will be dispensed by the Camp Director per the label and your instructions.
Medications abandoned at camp will be disposed of if not claimed in a reasonable amount of time.
*Kidventure does not administer shots. If your child needs medication or insulin injections while at camp, you or another authorized party must come to camp to administer them when needed. We will aid in checking blood levels with retractable needles.
Sick Child At Camp
From time to time, children may become ill at camp. Every campsite has a designated First Aid/Sick Station, where the camper will be isolated from other campers and allowed to rest. We will notify you if your child is sick, and in some cases may ask you to pick your child up from camp.
Communication
Contacting Your Camp
Please call the Kidventure office if you need to contact your child’s campsite. We will assist you in relaying any messages or answering any questions. We cannot provide you with a direct number to your child’s campsite.
Weekly Camp Newsletter
You will be emailed a Camp Newsletter the Thursday before each camp week your child is attending. It contains an agenda for the week, field trip info, important things to bring, upcoming events and other camp information. Please review it before the camp week begins!
Emergency Procedures
In the event of severe weather or any other potentially threatening situations, we will make every effort to notify you immediately regarding your child’s safety. Please make sure all of your contact information up-to-date. If camp closure becomes necessary, we will announce all closures on local television and radio and contact you by email and/or phone. If you have any questions, please contact your Kidventure office directly. We reserve the right to cancel any day(s) of camp due to inclement weather or any other situation which might compromise the safety of our campers, their families, or our staff. We do not issue refunds for cancellations due to these circumstances.
